eventful weekend!

i have been lacking in the updates...sorry everyone! i will try harder :o)
this past weekend i traveled to PARIS via London for one night...amazing! i went to London with a friend who showed me the city in about 4 hours...we saw Big Ben, Tower Bridge [with a boat going through- SO COOL!], the London Eye, the mayor's sweet office, Picadilly Circus, the National Gallery [free art museum=amazing], Westminster Abbey, some cool memorials, and where the Prime Minister lives.
the next morning i woke up very early to take the Eurostar to Paris. i met Madalyn, one of my good friends from UB, and her friend Allison, who are both studying in Montpellier, France this semester. on saturday, we saw the Arc d'Triomphe, the Effiel Tower [and took a nap in the garden], and did some shopping while walking around the beautiful streets of Paris. then we had dinner and headed back to the hostel to get ready to go back out to a club at St. Michel, close to Notre Dame! needless to say it was quite a fun time...haha :o)
sunday we slept in for a bit and then had lunch, then headed to Saint Chappelle, La Conciegerie, Notre Dame [even stayed for the first part of mass!], walked along the Seine, the Bastille and Paris Opera House, Champs Elysses [to see the Eiffel Tower glitter at night], the Louvre [absolutely stunning at night, could have stayed there for ages!], and finally Sacre-Coure, which was right by our hostel.
monday it was back on the Eurostar to London and then the train back home to Chichester...welcomed home by a package from my sis and an 8 hour day of class ahead of me! but, i made it through, and it was well worth every second of it.
when i sort out my pictures, i PROMISE to post a few. the rest will all be on facebook too if you want to check that out :o)

xoxoxo,
Rebekah

so i have been galavanting around the country and too busy to post...obviously! i spent the weekend in Somerset with my housemate Amelia. we had a wonderful time- went out, slept in, watched films, walked through the fields, played on the swings, played in the fountain, had an amazing dinner, went to the little village church, watched the sunset, and made lots of memories. :-D

in other news, things are still in the process of becoming official for me to be a resident of 30 Spitalfield Lane, but i have to pray that it will all work out as its supposed to. i have completely moved in [even though i am without a key...haha!] and have some pictures to show you! and yes uncle mark i have added some of te town as well :-)

downtown Chichester

its really quite homey, i love it.

more pictures later, but i must go get ready for my lesson now...oh, one more thing, i auditioned and got into the ChichesterCollective which is a dance company here run by 2 tutors from uni...we have rehearsal every monday night and will have a performance later in the season. it is amazing, i love it, and i love the people in it and the work we are creating. it makes me remember why i love dancing and why i'm here- which is a really nice feeling.

God is amazing...i have a place to live and a few new friends who i know i can count on! more later! <3

Saturday, September 12, 2009

so, today is catch up day. i have a whole list of things to do, since i tried to get things done yesterday but unfortunately got NOWHERE! :-(

i spent most of yesterday trying to figure out class things and maybe a place to live. really, i just wish i had a definite place to live not a temporary one, and trying to figure that all out is more stressful than necessary. i did manage to get registered for classes but i have homework due monday...sweeeet. lol. im just trying to adjust and its hard by myself, i wish i had a friend here [like mami or my sister!] sometimes!

but, i have to keep reminding myself that i have only been here a week. i had a great time on thursday night, went to the club with some friends and met more new people :-) i'm also excited to go back to church on sunday. travis and i checked out revelation church [http://www.revelation.org.uk/] last week and it was so wonderful and exactly what i am looking for...very contemporary and relationship-oriented and praising Jesus! who knows, maybe God will lead someone there that i can connect with. please keep me on your prayers! i am strong, but being all alone is challenging.

here is my schedule, as long as it doesn't change again:
M: 1-230, 3-6
T: 1230-2, 6-8
W: 1030-12, 3-530
R: 9-12, 1-230, 6-8
F: 1030-12

i am only taking 4 classes, but that is the norm here. i'm okay with that because there is SOOOOO much more outside work to do, and especially when 100% of the mark [grades] is a 2500 word essay due at the end of the term. whew!

i hope you all have a wonderful weekend...enjoy! :-)

ugh, i feel like nothing is going right today...

contact improv: i love it. its not a class that we have much of at UB, which is unfortunate. it is such a valuable technique to learn! i have heard that Anne will be doing it in the spring, which is awesome. :o)
i finally got a phone today. YAY! it is on the 3 network which means that i can talk phone-to-skype for free! if you have skype, you can call me and i an answer it on my phone. cool :o) now, i just have to figure out how it works haha!
i can't believe tomorrow is already thursday. wow! i guess thursday is a big night in Bognor, so i'm going out with some friends. can't wait! i'll try to remember my camera this time :o)

and we're off and running

i have survivied my first 2 days of classes. whew! there is so much outside of class work here it is pretty amazing but it really makes you work hard and i love that! since last night was the first night back, everyone was at the Zee- the campus pub :-) i went with some of the girls i met yesterday and met a lot of new people and had a great time! drinks are cheap there which is nice because they aren't always cheap at other pubs. haha! its quite funny having a bar on campus, though. but i guess thats what you do when the drinking age is 18!

i went to Bognor on Saturday with some of the other exchange students and had a great time. the beach there is not like the beach i'm used to though! in the picture: Vika from Russia, Travis from Canada, Britt from Belgium, and ME :-)

much to do today- i'm getting a phone and some groceries and possibly moving into an apartment soon. WHOOPEEEEE! love to all.

almost there

here i am, just finishing up packing and trying to do last minute things before i head to the airport. i feel like i've packed too much, so i may go through and re-organize for the third time...haha! i do think i have everything i need though. which is good :o) if i don't, i don't need it, or i can probably buy it over there!!!
that's all for now. next post: CHICHESTER, ENGLAND!
